Here are some brief introduction about IET, MORE on IET...

What's so great about IET?
a) Student is considering as a member of one of the world’s leading international engineering societies.
b) IET has 150,000 members worldwide in 127 different countries.

Scope of IET
Represents the profession of electrical, electronic, manufacturing and systems engineering and related sciences.
Sets standards of qualifications for professional electrical, electronics, software, systems and manufacturing engineers.
Accredits degree courses in subjects relevant to electrical, electronic, manufacturing and information engineering at universities and colleges around the world.
Accredits professional development schemes for engineering graduates.
Awards scholarships, grants and prizes.
Issues regulations for the safe installation of electrical and electronic equipment and plays a leading sole in the formulation of national and international standards.
Sets standards for the professional conduct of its members.
• Operates a Career Advisory Service to give advice and assistance to members on various aspects of career development.
Operates a Learning Resources Service to provide details of potential professional development activities provided by both IET and other organisations.
Operates a computer-assisted information service, Inspec, which has the world's largest computerised database in the English language in physics, electro-technology, computer science and control engineering.

After attending the brief presentation bring out by IET (Gary Lee - Hong Kong Representative) on 19 October 2009 in Swinburne. Dr Kho Yau Hee and I feel that is good idea for all the engineering students to be getting connected with each others by FORMING A STUDENT CHAPTER in SWINBURNE. Personally, i had join IET for more than 2 years. Many more of our Swinburne Lecturers and Professors are member of IET (MIET). That is why, we feel that our SWINBURNE ENGINEERS should know more about this INSTITUTION. Right now, i am trying to record how many students of engineering in SWINBURNE is IET - YMS(Youth Member Section) memberso that Dr Kho and I can register with SWINBURNE in order to form a LEGAL STUDENT CHAPTER. VISION & MISSION FORMING A STUDENT CHAPTER IN SWINBURNE

• To promote IET among the students in SWINBURNE.
• To organize and participate in IET related activities.
• To serves as a platform and channel for broadening the networks of SWINBURNERS through activities with which connects and relates to professional engineers in varies disciplines and also university students both locally and globally.
• To gives an opportunity to establish network relationship with members from the same student chapter or other student chapters to co-operate in engineering field.
• To support students to enhance their learning skills, advance educations and professional developments.
• To provide its members the opportunities to expand their experience and understanding of industry both in the engineering and technology sense and business sense.
• To be the source for lighting the student career pathway.
• To be a stepping stone for students to share knowledge and information effectively whether as individual or in groups.
