Do you mean by on campus or off campus hostel?
Of course On-campus is better. How i wish that i can live in the On-campus for the rest of my life in swinburne. But too bad, this maybe my last semester. If you have 8.30 class in the morning, you can still wake up at 8.30am then dart towards the class without late. How nice... btw, if you really calculate it, actually the rental is almost the same. if you live in off-campus you need transportation as well. after you top that up the fees would be the same.

the most important is that even during your semester break u do not need to pay anything for it only apply you are not staying. Then if you stay off campus you gonna still pay your rent....

my 1st sem, staying in the campus hostel, now my 2nd sem stay outside renting the house and staying together with my friends.

First of all, I not complaining but a comparison.

My experiences in the hostel, I feel so great to wake up few mins b4 the class start, and if I wanted to change my cloth, I can do it during break. Ya, the gym is great, and the night burger stall for supper haha. Cant store much ingredients cause of limited storage they provide, so cooking will be a problem.

But what I not satisfied are the food I store in the refrigerator will be gone within few mins (store my fruit juice, whole thing gone and my chocs as well). The kitchen really dirty, the water filter not maintain so it is dirty and unhealthy (got particle and smelly) if u take ur water from there (it is better to take water from the coin-operated purified water dispensing machine for 20 sen or less).

Keep eat out and spending money daily. Sometimes someone will sing karaoke or open loud volume. Early in the morning got so many kind of alarms.

Last but not least, u can't experience much more if u live in hostel for ur whole sems.

Staying off-campus, wake up early morning and cook my favor breakfast with all the ingredient that available Smile
1 car is enough for car pooling, petrol cost can be shared among the housemates.
u will learn more example paying the bill, cleaning, taking care of house, dividing duty. And many more.

In My Opinion!!

I think I prefer to stay in Off Campus!!!
Here is the reason!!!
1.) The only beneficial thing of staying in On Campus is that, it is very near to our Uni..only walking distance!!! silent

2.) The On Campus Hostel Is Very Very Costly actually...I dont think what I am paying is worth of what I am going through in hostel now!! Because
-the kitchen is super duper dirty!!!

-the bathroom..no comments...kinda stinky..n only 3 bathroom was working...well..they sort of repaird now!! still i dont like it

-Laundry RM 6...so costly as well...i need to wash twice a week!!! My pockets getting empty

-Internet, Deconnexion is very very very bad....

-The food!!! Only Cilipeppers...!!! Spring..Kings Centre...Since I love to cook...On Campus is not my choice!!!

Now here is the reason why i chose Off Campus!!!
1.) No matter its far...I have legs to walk..even public transportation!!!
2.) Off campus is like a freedom for us!!! On Campus is like a jail for me!!! =X
3.) CaN COOK!!!!!!!!!!! (the best part)
4.) The fridge will be just for me!!! not for public!!
5.) The rental is quite reasonable!!!
